The Sketch tour shows you where everything for sketching lives. It used to be called the Draw tour. Like the Structured Tour, it works on the real editor rather than screenshots: it spotlights each part of the dock with a highlight ring and a short explanation. It adds nothing to your canvas, takes under a minute, and you can leave at any point.
Starting the Tour
The tour never starts or pops up on its own. When you're in Sketch mode on a tab you can edit, press Start Sketch Tour at the top right of the editor, just after the appearance switch. On a phone the button shows only its play icon.
The button doesn't appear on a locked tab, in an embed, or for someone who can only view or take part. It stays there after you've taken the tour, so you can press it again whenever you like.
What It Covers
- Pens and Tools: the dock's first group, with Select, the three markers, Text, the Path tool and the Eraser. Press the marker in your hand again to change its colour and width.
- Quick Style: the panel with colour and width for the marker in your hand, or for whatever you've selected, so you can restyle a stroke, shape or text after drawing it. If nothing is in hand, the tour picks up a marker to show it and puts it down again after. Not on a phone.
- Shapes: the sticky note and shapes pinned to the dock, and Shapes, which opens every shape and a search. You can pin your favourites to the dock.
- Board Settings: the cog, with the board's background, your cursor, and whether rough shapes you draw snap into clean ones.
Each step has Next, Back and Skip tour. The last card, You're ready to draw, links to the Sketch mode article and ends the tour with Start. If you leave Sketch mode or switch tab mid-tour, it ends as skipped.
Replaying the Tour
Press Start Sketch Tour again, or start it from Settings:
Close Settings. If you're in Sketch mode the tour starts straight away; otherwise the Start Sketch Tour button is there the next time you work in Sketch.
