The Workshop Tour

A short, optional walkthrough of the session kit with the Workshop control on, started from the Start Workshop Tour button at the top right.

The Workshop tour shows you where everything for running a session lives. Like the Structured Tour, it works on the real editor rather than screenshots: it spotlights each part with a highlight ring and a short explanation. It places a timer, a vote and a poll to show them and takes them away when it ends, takes under a minute, and you can leave at any point.

Starting the Tour

The tour never starts or pops up on its own. When the Workshop control is on for a tab you can edit, press Start Workshop Tour at the top right of the editor, just after the appearance switch. On a phone the button shows only its play icon.

The button doesn't appear on a locked tab, in an embed, or for someone who can only view or take part. If you have a complex element selected, the button offers that element's tour instead; select nothing to get the Workshop tour back. It stays there after you've taken the tour, so you can press it again whenever you like.

What It Covers

  1. Collaborate: Ask and Session on the palette's bar, the session kit: Ask puts a question to the room, and Session holds the timers, reveals, records, reactions, selection modes and places to go. In Sketch, which has no palette, this step is left out. See Collaborate. The rest of the palette is the Structured Tour's.
  2. A Timer for the Room: a Timer on the canvas, counting down for everyone, with pause, reset and more time on it.
  3. Dot Voting: a Vote, which gives everyone dots to put on the notes they back; the counts show when it ends.
  4. A Live Poll: a Poll, a question to the room answered live, as yes or no, choices, a rating or open.
  5. Run the Room: the Timer, Vote and Poll buttons in the Session strip, which run for everyone without placing anything. See Session Tools.
  6. Bring People In: the Share button, where a Participant link lets people add notes, vote and answer without changing the rest. Left out where there is no Share button.

Each step has Next, Back and Skip tour. The last card, You're ready to run a workshop, links to the Workshop control article and ends the tour with Start. If the control is turned off or you switch tab mid-tour, it ends as skipped.

Replaying the Tour

Press Start Workshop Tour again, or start it from Settings:

Open Settings from the editor and go to Tours.
Switch Workshop Tour back on.

Close Settings. If the Workshop control is on, the tour starts straight away; otherwise the Start Workshop Tour button is there the next time you turn it on.
